Privacy policy

HomeRunters is a fan project for following MLB. This page explains, in plain words, what data the app uses and why.

What we collect

When you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email and profile photo, plus an account identifier. That's all: the app doesn't ask for your contacts, Gmail, Drive or any other data in your account. If you sign in anonymously, we receive none of this.

What you do in the app: your favorite team, the teams and players you follow, favorite games, and the messages, likes and replies you post in game chats.

If you turn on notifications, we store the identifier your browser generates to receive game alerts.

The chat is public

Messages posted in a game chat are visible to everyone who opens that game, along with your Google account name and photo (or "Anonymous" if you signed in without an account). Don't post anything you don't want others to see. You can delete your own messages at any time.

How we use it

Only to make the app work: show your teams and games, identify who wrote each chat message, and send the notifications you asked for.

We don't sell, rent or share your data with anyone. There are no ads and no tracking or analytics tools.

Where it is stored

In Firebase (Google Cloud). Your browser also keeps a few preferences, such as how the games list is displayed, so the app opens the way you left it.

Third-party services

Scores, stats, images, news and videos come from MLB (MLB Stats API and MLB.com). Game summaries are generated by Google's Gemini using game data only, never your data. Sign-in and notifications are provided by Google (Firebase). Users without a photo in the chat get an avatar from Pravatar, which only receives an anonymous identifier. Each service follows its own privacy policy.

Your rights

You can delete your chat messages, change or remove favorite teams, players and games, and turn off notifications in your browser at any time. To delete your account and all your data, contact the app's support email.

You can also revoke HomeRunters' access to your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will be updated.
